Real Madrid won the match played at home in the company of Valencia, final score 4-0, in the 11th round of LaLiga, and “los blancos” broke away at the top of the general hierarchy seven lengths from Villareal, the current second place holder. Kylian Mbappe, with a “double”, Jude Bellingham and Alvaro Carreras added their names to the scorers’ list, in a match in which the top scorer in the Spanish championship presented on the open stage two individual distinctions recently awarded.

Real Madrid received the visit of Valencia in the 11th round of LaLiga, a few days after the victory obtained by the “galactics” in the company of the great rival, Barcelona. At the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, Xabi Alonso’s team presented themselves as leaders in the Spanish championship, while the “bats” traveled to the capital in a stalemate, as a result of occupying 18th place in the general hierarchy.

The hosts, prior to this duel, had recorded five consecutive successes in all competitions, and had not been defeated on home soil since April of this year, when Arsenal prevailed in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. On the other hand, the team at the “Estadio Mestalla” had achieved a categorical triumph, final score 5-0, in a Copa del Rey game, against Maracena, but the most recent five disputes in the domestic competition had brought two draws and three failures for Valencia.

The clash between the teams coached by Xabi Alonso and Carlos Corberan, respectively, took place shortly after the current top scorer in LaLiga, Kylian Mbappe, received the individual “Golden Boot” trophy, which signifies the status of the best scorer of the previous season. The French international scored 31 times in a total of 34 matches in which he was involved in the Spanish championship, managing to enter this distinction in his record for the first time.

Vinicius Junior was named by the Iberian technician in the match played against the “bats”, despite the behavior that the Brazilian footballer displayed in “El-Clasico”, when he was replaced by the manager of Real Madrid. The injured David Alaba, Daniel Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger and the suspended Andriy Lunin were not included in the “los blancos” squad for this match, while the visiting coach did not have Mouctar Diakhaby, Dimitri Foulquier, Largie Ramazani and Filip Ugrinic available.

Last season, in the direct match between Real Madrid and Valencia that was played in the arena of the Spanish capital, the “bats” caused a surprise and won all three points, thanks to a goal scored in the fifth minute of extra time by Hugo Duro. Since 2008, the “blanquinegro” group had not managed to overcome “los blancos” in a duel organized at the “Santiago Bernabéu”. Before the starting whistle of this match, the “decar” of the host team showed on the open stage the trophy dedicated to the best footballer of October in LaLiga, as well as the “Golden Boot”, the 2024/2025 season edition.

The first goal opportunity came in the fifth minute, when Arda Guler filtered a pass into free space for Kylian Mbappe, and after taking over in a forward position, the Hexagon forward tried to finish with a volley, but Jose Copete deflected the ball, Real Madrid benefiting from a corner. From that corner kick, Federico Valverde shot dangerously towards the opposing goal, but the ball went over the goal of the “bats”. Later, the “galactics” came close to opening the score, when Kylian Mbappe passed inside the box to Vinicius Junior, and the South American player took over the action on his own.

The Brazilian footballer dribbled an opponent and shot to the far corner, at half-height with his left foot, but Julen Agirrezabala intervened promptly and prevented the ball from shaking the net of his goal. The same Basque goalkeeper from Valencia showed his qualities a few sequences later, when Jude Bellingham easily fooled Thierry Correia and managed to create a corridor to complete the phase, but his execution was parried by the goalkeeper who was loaned from Athletic Club to the “bats” camp this season.

The students trained by Xabi Alonso requested a penalty kick at the end of the first quarter of an hour, due to a potential foul committed by a guest player on the header sent by Eder Militao towards the goalposts of the “Estadio Mestalla”. After consulting the replays, the referee awarded a penalty in favor of “los blancos”, and from the penalty spot, Kylian Mbappe took “revenge” for the miss in “El-Clasico”, from the same position, and scored without emotion, the goalkeeper not being able to guess the corner where the French player launched the ball.

Federico Valverde tried his luck near the end of the first half hour of this confrontation, the Uruguayan footballer receiving a ball from Aurelien Tchoumaneni at the end of a positional attack and wanting to finish with a volley, but his execution was caught by Julen Agirrezabala.

Real Madrid’s second goal came after a new “Arda Guler – Kylian Mbappe” connection, the Turkish footballer managing to find the striker of the Spanish capital with a cross directed at the far post, and the LaLiga top scorer decisively put the ball wide to successfully end the action.

The midfielder that came from Fenerbache assisted six times this season wearing a ”los blancos” shirt and all of his decisive passes were delivered to the French striker, according to Fabrizio Romano.

A few minutes before the end of the first half, “los blancos” benefited from another penalty kick, at the end of a phase in which Alvaro Carreras intended to stop the ball, but Thierry Correia prevented him. This time, Kylian Mbappe allowed Vinicius Junior to take responsibility for converting this penalty, but, just like in the direct duel played at the “Santiago Bernabeu” last season between Real Madrid and Valencia, the “seven” of the hosts missed.

Before entering the dressing rooms, Jude Bellingham increased the score difference between the two teams, when, from the edge of the penalty area, he decided to shoot with his right foot to the far corner, Julen Agirrezabala not having any chance to block the execution that was extremely well placed. At half-time, Aurelien Tchouameni and Arda Guler were taken off the field by Xabi Alonso, and Dani Ceballos and Eduardo Camavinga, respectively, were introduced on the pitch, the changes being made in view of the UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool.

In the 62nd minute of the match, Vinicius Junior easily overtook an opponent at speed, and then, the South American player passed inside the penalty area to Kylian Mbappe. From the first, from the drop, the execution of the French footballer was parried by Julen Arrigezabala, and the “bats” defense removed the danger from the proximity of their own goals. The visitors’ first goal-scoring opportunity came moments later, when Pepelu’s shot from the edge of the box was acrobatically saved by Thibaut Courtois.

With about 10 minutes to go, Xabi Alonso decided to give Endrick his first minutes of the season, with the Brazilian taking to the field wearing the number nine shirt at a time when there was talk that he could be loaned out to Olympique Lyonnais in the winter transfer window to develop further. The most spectacular goal of the match was scored by Real Madrid’s left-back, Alvaro Carreras, who fired a powerful shot from inside the box into the net. It was the first goal ever wearing a ”los blancos’s” shirt for the fullback that was transferred from Benfica Lisbon this summer window.

Thanks to this success recorded on home soil, the players led from the sidelines by the former Spanish international have accumulated 30 points, being seven and eight lengths behind those from Villareal and Barcelona, respectively, with the mention that the “blaugrana” formation has one match in fewer played. On the other hand, the “bats” remain in the “red” zone of the general hierarchy, with a total of nine points collected after 11 rounds played. In the next stage, “los blancos” will evolve in the company of those from Rayo Vallecano, near the Capital, and Valencia will “face off” with Real Betis, at the “Estadio Mestalla”.
